19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hardcourt

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a former world number one, has had a torrid period, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in particular - led to him dropping out of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-time coach his previous coach.

Currently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents his maiden championship after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court since March of that year.

The win also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my children simultaneously, so to get a title is really nice," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the first title I got when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six title deciders, including in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive approach and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had caused some to question if his ability to play at the elite level was finished.

But the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and perform positively, supported by an better serve.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the last five games to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to push for a decider.

The opponent defended four initial opportunities in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner secured the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
